The Auto Palazzo is a very important building for city of Macerata. Located along the west walls of the city, it is brick red-faced and is one of the few examples of Art Nouveau style. The Auto Palazzo was built in 1911 by the engineer Ugo Cantalamessa as the first “modernly equipped” multi-purpose car garage in the region. Inside, in fact, in addition to the mechanical workshop, and some functions related to public transportation, there was a car wash, various shops including the first FIAT one of the Marche. The roof was a nice terrace where you could skate. During the Fascist regime it became the Italico Palazzo maintaining for decades the function of a garage. FIMA has taken care of the architectural restoration of the facades and interiors bringing it back to its former glory.
